If you are planning to come to the United States with the intention of going to an academic institution as a student, you must obtain an I20 document from your desired institution stating that you have been accepted. Once you have obtained that document, you will have to go to your local U.S. Consulate or U.S. Embassy and apply for an F1 non-immigrant student visa. This is the visa that will grant you entrance and non-immigrant student status to the United States.
