  • 34.4% of Hispanics were under the age of 18 in 2002

  • Hispanics ages 5 to 19 are expected to grow from 11 million in 2005 to 16 million by the year 2020

  • In 2001, there were 8.4 million Latino children enrolled in grades K-12; this made up for 16% of all children in the United States enrolled in primary and secondary schools

  • 4.5 million Children of Hispanic decent are the largest growth group for the total number of children in the United States

  • Approximately one in six undocumented migrants is a child under the age of 18

  • By the year 2020, second generation Hispanics in the U.S. will make up 13.4% of all school-aged children (ages 5 to 19) going to school in the United States
