  • In 2003, there were 1,776 new AIDS cases among Latino women and 6,344 among Latino men

  • 18.4% of new all new AIDS cases were among Hispanics in 2004

  • About 9 in 100,000 Hispanic males die from advanced HIV disease as opposed to 3.5 in 100,000 for non-Hispanic white males

  • In the border regions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, the incident rate for HIV positive cases was about 8 per 100,000 people at the turn of the century

  • The death rate from AIDS is three times higher for Hispanic women than for non-Hispanic white women
