Academic and Professional Development Training
HSHPS development training opportunities are available to all HSHPS members. Activities we administer include technical assistance, faculty development, and grant writing seminars, activities and programs. As a member school, your students and faculty gain exclusive application status. These programs assist in giving our members experience working in the medical and public health fields and providing them with vital contacts to ensure a successful career.
Scholarships
HSHPS offers supplemental training and career development scholarships to assist our members’ developing careers in the Health Professions industry.
Education and Research Resources
HSHPS provides innovative teaching and curricular materials for researchers, scientists, medical students, residents, practicing physicians, and health care providers. These materials assist in teaching up-to-date information and ensuring that all members are current on data pertaining to their profession.
Research Funding
HSHPS members may apply for research funding through the HSHPS-CDC Cooperative Agreement. This agreement provides important funds for our members to conduct the research necessary to better the Hispanic community here in the U.S. In addition, HSHPS provides tools to our members to assist in identifying and securing monies for future research.
HSHPS Awards Eligibility
HSHPS awards our members with internships, fellowships, and other educational and career developing opportunities. Many of these programs and activities are offered exclusively to our members. Our activities and programs are done in coordination with various agencies of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Many of our member schools partner with HSHPS on these activities.
HSHPS News Flash
HSHPS’s bi-weekly e-mail newsletter provides our members with updates on HSHPS activities and industry news. The newsflash is delivered to as many e-mail addresses as you submit for your school.
El Rincon de salud Hispana
This semi-annual, thematic publication contains non-time sensitive information for students, faculty, researchers, and health policy advocates. The bulletin includes HSHPS member updates, research projects, programs and activities. Both print and e-mail versions are available.
Networking, Collaboration, and Visibility
One of the strongest features of HSHPS is the opportunity for members to work with others to address innovative strategies. By participating in a wide variety of committees, task forces, and groups, HSHPS members can effect change in preventive medicine and public health. In addition to these unique events, HSHPS honors its members with professional recognition. Periodic events are organized where you can network with other members, meet with individuals from other organizations and national leaders interested and dedicated to our mission. As part of these events, we celebrate the achievements and hard work of individuals by giving them awards thanking them for their contribution to our community.
