The HSHPS Executive Committee is an elected committee within the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee is the governing body of HSHPS that approves or rejects all major decisions concerning the organization as a whole.
The Executive Committee is comprised of one emeritus and four elected seats. Prior to elections, the Board of Directors nominates candidates for each seat. Each elected member holds the position for a term of two years with the possibility of re-election. Elections are conducted at the HSHPS Annual Board Meeting.
The Executive Committee works closely with HSHPS management to ensure that the vision of HSHPS remains specific and appropriate to the needs of the Hispanic community and its members. The Executive Committee set the organization’s focus for upcoming years to increase faculty development and research efforts, thereby increasing the amount of research conducted in the area of Hispanic health and the number of Hispanics conducting such research. With these efforts, HSHPS leadership and staff continues to work diligently to improve the health of Hispanics across the country.
