July 27, 2004 – July 28, 2004

The 2004 HSHPS Research Technical Assistance Meeting was held in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia. Junior and senior faculty, researchers, and student interns were given an overview of the CDC including its history, mission, and public health priorities.  The CDC's vision for the 21st century as the world’s premier public health resource was also discussed.  During the meeting, the grant writing and review process was discussed and participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns.  In addition, there were interactive workshops with representatives from various CDC Centers, Institutes, and Offices, at which the participants were able to ask topic specific questions and receive information on CDC research priority areas.   In an effort to expand collaborative efforts, participants were given the opportunity to network with CDC staff and each other.
