HSHPS U.S.-Mexico Research Symposium (Part two)
July 19, 2002 – July 21, 2002

The second segment of a four part series, held in El Paso, Texas, gave HSHPS faculty an opportunity to develop a U.S.-Mexico Border Health Research Agenda; in collaboration with several national agencies, foundations, and groups along the border community. Some of the groups that participated were: the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the CDC, the Pan-American Health Organization, and Mexico State Representatives.   There were also over 150 individual participants from the U.S. and Mexican border states.  Three Regional Teams were formed according to American and Mexican states that face eachother, geographically, on the border.  The three regional teams that were developed are as follows: California and Arizona with Baja California and Sonora; New Mexico and western Texas with Chihuahua; and southern Texas with Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas.  HSHPS brought together participants to discuss the current state of affairs on health activities along the U.S.-Mexico Border and as a result developed the HSHPS health research agenda.
